The Creation of the Zodiac Collections

The Creation of the Zodiac Collections

I have always been fascinated by astrology, so when I launched a company centered on dogs and their healing power, I knew I wanted that magic to be at the core of my brand. For me, art has been a form of therapy—a way to navigate life’s toughest moments. The idea hit me: why not combine the wisdom of the stars with the unconditional love of our canine companions? I wanted to match zodiac signs with dog breeds based on their unique personality traits.

I hit the books, only to discover—well, it wasn't an entirely original thought! But as the saying goes, "why reinvent the wheel?" I studied various interpretations of zodiac traits and dog personalities, then took those suggestions and refined them, pairing breeds with signs in ways that felt more intuitive and meaningful. The concept was born, but the journey was just beginning.

I experimented with styles, bouncing from neon to surrealism, characters to cartoons. I eventually launched my first iteration, the Celestial Zodiac collection, on Etsy. My vision was to capture the mysteries of space and the vastness of the universe, pairing that ethereal quality with the mystery of our dogs. The concept was great, but the execution was... let’s call it "beginner." I am a self-taught artist, and I’ve learned far more from my failures than my successes.

I tried again with the Elements collection. My goal was to show the balance of the zodiac signs by leaning into nature—creating zen, spa-like designs that evoke peace. The concept was strong, and my skills were improving, but I struggled to tell the story behind the designs. I couldn't quite bridge the gap between my vision and the customer's understanding.

Then, in true "story-book" fashion, tragedy struck. My computer crashed, and my world felt like it was falling apart. Every design, every piece of artwork, every hour of effort—gone. At the time, it felt like an ending, but in hindsight, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

I stepped away from the concept for a while to focus on other things. Then, a few weeks ago, the vision came flooding back. I had been working hard on my self-esteem and confidence, and I hit a moment of frustration—a flash of temper. Someone told me I was "scary when I’m mad." Instead of shrinking, I realized something: I was stronger than I had ever given myself credit for. It was a powerful reminder of my own resilience.

That was the spark for the Warrior collection.

I created the Warrior collection to remind us all that we are strong. We can lean into our strengths even when we don't feel like they are strengths. Each zodiac sign has a trait that gives it power, and the warrior persona helps channel that energy to conquer whatever life throws our way.

With that foundation, I leaned back into my other collections. I revisited the Elements designs to bring balance and calm to the chaos of modern life. Finally, I returned to my original vision: the Celestial collection. This design represents the magical side of astrology that draws us in, telling the story of the vast, promised knowledge that the stars offer us.

You be the judge, but I am proud of what I’ve created. Over the next year, I will be introducing all three zodiac collections—Warrior, Elements, and Celestial—for every sign. I hope they bring you as much strength, peace, and magic as they have brought me.
